J. G. Adams

(1810-1887)

John Greenleaf Adams D.D. (1810-1887) was a Universalist minister, author, and hymn composer. Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was ordained in 1833 in Rumney, NH, and was also pastor at Claremont, NH (1836-38); Providence RI (1860-65), Cincinnati, OH (1874-76); and Malden (1838-53), Worcester (1853-60), Lowell (1865-74), and Melrose (1877-87), MA. He also edited the New Hampshire publication Star in the East, and other Universalist periodicals.
